PYIN OO LWIN

Situated over 1000 meters above sea-level, about 69 km away from Mandalay is PyinOoLwin, accessible by car and train. With its climate being cool and pleasant the whole year round, British government designated as the summer seat of government during the British colonial time in Myanmar. PyinOoLwin is well-known for its colonial-style houses with large compound and pine trees, eucalyptus and silver-oak abound in town. Today PyinOoLwin serves as a summer hill resort attracting large number of not only local visitors but also international tourists during the hot season. Places of interest in its vicinity are Peik Chin Myaung Cave, PweKauk Waterfall, Ani-Sakan Waterfall, Morning Market, Pyichit Buddha Image and National Kandawgyi Garden. Another must is a visit to Purcell Tower right in the middle of the town, one of the ten clocks made in 1934 in commemoration of the silver jubilee of the reign of King George V of the United Kingdom.
