Trip Overview
Mt.Phangranadventure expedition is designed for trekker who wants to make a hard trekking and hiking adventure trip in the deep forest and on the high mountains. The main challenges on this adventure trekking are walking on the rocky stream, crossing the current ice water for serval times, long hiking on sleep snow cap cliff. Standing with 4400m on the border of Myanmar and India border, Mt.Phangran become one of the most difficult summits for hikers on this area. On this tour, you can observe the way of life of the mountain people at the villages on the way. The main highlights of this tour will be wild orchids, rhododendron, pine forest, rain forest, medicine plants butterflies, fishes, endemic bird species as tragopans & pheasants, wild animals as Takin, mountain goad, red panda, monkey, gibbon, and etc. Although it is adventure expedition grade, we do offer you to come and try to be the highest summit on the borer of Myanmar and India with Travel Expert.

| Fitness : | Being a hard adventure trekking, this expedition is recommend trekkers who have experiences in trekking and hiking. If you have technical mountaineering experiences, it will be better but it is not essential. Long trekking, hiking in the deep forest and on the snow cap mountain combine with walking on the rocky trail along the river could not be skipped on this tour. So we do recommend that you should be very fit for this trip. |
| Time for the trip: | From October to April are recommended, the best time will be on November, December, January and February. |
| Weather Info : | October to April will be hot in the day time but it will be cold in the early morning and late evening. It will be 20oC- 25oC at day time and 0oC to 6oC at night time normally. It will be about -2o to -10oc at the night of last 2 camps. June to September will be rain. |
| Accommodation : | One night at a hotel or guest house in Putao, 6 nights at local houses in the village and 6 nights with the tent in the forest. We will provide good sleeping bags and mattresses at the villages and in the tent. |
| Bathrooms/shower on trek : | Bathroom is available at all villages but not real shower. We do arrange to take a bath and watching the cloth in a private place at village house. All night-stop-villages are located on the bank of the small rivers, most of our previous guests enjoy their watching the clothes and taking bath on the small river. |
| Meals info : | All meals are included in your package. Lunch box is recommended for whole day trekking. |

We do recommend a medium site day back bag for your essential medicine, camera, water, rain cover and etc. Our porters will carry all of your big baggage in which includes all of your personal gears, clothes and etc. But you should pack just essential thing for your trekking days. We do request to leave all rest things do not need for your trekking at our Putao office or at the first village. We will keep all of these in our main locker at our office in Putao. |
| Notice : | Sand fly and leached will be found on your trekking in lowland, especially on the first and last 3 days. It could be rain on trekking days ( 10 % ). Most of the trekking time will be in the rain forest mountain. Three days will be open trek among pine forest area. |

Itinerary

13 Days / 12 nights
Day 1. Arrival at Putao– Shangaung village( L / D )
On your arrival at Putao, one of our company representative will picks you up at the airport to transfer to Putao. After have lunch at a restaurant, meet our hiking group to make some briefing for our long trekking and hiking trip to Mt. Phangran, 4127 m which stands on the border of Myanmar and India. In the late afternoon, shell we take a jeep or truck to Shaung village with the distance 17 km which take us about one hour. Shangaung is one of the big village of Lisu and Rawan tribes in the west of Putao. To upper Shanghaiing village – need approximately an hour for 10 miles – proceed by jeep. Dinner will be served at the village and we will make a night stop at a local house in the illage.
Day2. Shangaung village – Wasandum village ( B/ L / D )
After breakfast, the trek in the forested mountain, for about 7 hours, is commenced over Mt. Shangaung at 1360 meters. Today will be a tasting journey to refresh your trekking experiences by 12 miles trekking and hiking. First 3 miles will on flat and straight up for 4 miles to be on the summit. After lunch, the trail will be down to Warsandan Village, a small village placed on the bank of Namlan River. It is the end point of the day trekking program, also good for night stop, and there catch the enjoyable feeling of sunset on the bank of the creek. Dinner will be at the village house.
Day3. Wasandum village-Awadum village -Ziyardumvillage ( B / L / D )
Start the morning tour program with the 6 hour trekking for 9 miles to get to the destination Ziyadum Village, which is situated about 1048 meter above sea level. Easy trek on the flat route in the forest along the Namlang creek. On the way, first reaches AwadumLizu Village and lunch will be on the bank of theZiyariver. In the late afternoon, arrive at Ziyardum Village, the last Rawan village in the north-west of Putao, positioned on the bank of Ziyar River among the ever green forest. It is recommended to take photos along the Ziyariver for fantastic views with blazing snow mountain by sunset. Being at the last village on your adventure trip, we do recommend to recheck all gears again in the evening. Dinner and night stop will be at a village house.
Day 4.Ziyadum village - Camp ( I ) ( B / L / D )
After breakfast, the trek start among the forest mountain. It will be straight up along the trail up to the camp I at 1400 meters which take us about 6 hours trekking.Enjoy packed lunch with tea at camp I; after that, proceed to camp I, our destination, which we will arrive in the evening. Take photographs on the bank of the river during relaxation – the good picture of snowcapped mountains among the evergreen forest can be obtained if we are in the fine weather. Night stop will be at Camp I building which was constructed by Htoo Foundation ( not in the tent ). It is safe and worm inside. This camp is standing on the bank of the river, it is good opportunity to take a bath in the river. Dinner and overnight will be in camp I.
Day 5.Camp ( I ) –Camp II - Tarking Camp /Kyauktonegyi Camp ( B / L / D )
The dawn is welcomed by the sweet calls of the birds in the beautiful scenic morning. Continue, after breakfast, another seven-hour-long trekking to Tarking camp and Kyauktonegyi cam. We will cross passing in the colder water in some portions. For today tour plan, need our effort for in some parts it can be said of containing the difficult route on the huge rocks along Phangran River in the evergreen forest, and we have to climb the rocky cliff if the water level is higher than normal.Subsequent to today among-forest-trekking – it is the most difficult day because of some rocky cliff and deep water level, will stop at Tarking Camp or Kyauktonegyi camp ( a huge rock camp ) for the night stop beside the river. Grab hold of enjoyable dinner at the camp on such a high mountain, which is 3050 meter above sea level. Night stop will in a tent.
Day 6. Kyauktonegyi Camp - ChaungSone Camp ( B / L / D )
In the cool morning, after breakfast, cross the river first for the continuity of the trek on the rocky mountain heading toward Chaungsone camp at 3400 meters. Spent six hours for today hiking, reach the target camp Chaungsone which is situated in the valley of snowcapped mountains. It is a good photo point and easy to find the mountain goad, Tarkin, Trogopans and many rare species of mountain birds. It's also at the end of the river and starting point of the hiking on the snow. In the evening, it will be a paradise if weather is fine. Dinner and overnight in a tent atChaungsone camp.
Day 7ChaungSone Camp - Based Camp ( Pine hill camp )( B / L / D )
After breakfast, up hiking will be along the on the deep slope cliff, probably in the snow, which is hard in the first two or three hours. Keep on trekking for next two hours after a short rest on the pine hill, 36000 m above sea level. During lunch time on a mountain, it will be good time for photography of Snowcap Mountains as Mt. Phangaran.In the late afternnon you will at the base camp. The base site is also a snowcapped area, at the altitude of about 4000m. An excellent view toMt. Phangaran and the other snowcapped mountain ranges along the border of Myanmar and India will be occurred from this point. Dinner and night stop with a tent will be at the based camp.
Day 8. Base camp - Summit Mt. Phangran - ChaungSone Camp ( B / L / D )
Enjoying the sun under the shadow of Mt. Phangran, 4400 meters high, make the commencement of hiking to the apex of it within the duration of 3 hours on the snowcapped mountain passing through the narrow rocky cliff. The tea time at the summit while taking photographs on the vista of the atmosphere will become memorable for you in such an adventure-like trip. After take a short rest, leave for the base camp in the half of the period of ascending. Spend pleasurable time during lunch and then trek back to Chaungsone camp. Catch the moment of sunset in the valley of snowcapped mountain. We will make a night stop at the same sport as day 6.
Day 9 ChaungSone Camp - Camp II, TarkinCamp ( B / L / D )
Leave ChaungSonecamp when finished breakfast in the rising sun to begin the trek on the stony way back to camp II within approximately 9 hours. To have the experience of passing the icy water about 10 is possible before lunch at camp III. In the late afternoon, we will arrive today destination Trakin camp. Dinner and the night stop will be at camp II.
Day 10. Camp II - Ziyadumvillage( B / L / D )
The way to Ziyadum village is easy in spite of the walk on the stones for about three hours. Lunch will be at the destination where taking leisure in the evening time serves an excellent moment of relaxation for all of our used energy. In the evening, arrive at Zinyar village and take your leisure with mountain people. Dinner and overnight will be served at the village.
Day 11.Ziyadum - Kharlan - Wasundum( B / L / D )
Acquire pleasure from the easy trek (9 miles) as well as the photo stops after commencing your walk toward the destined Kharlan Village, a small and pleasant Rawan village having the background of the dense forested mountain. The enjoyable experience will be continued by the time of crossing a small traditional rattan suspension bridge, whilst back from the village, observing the nature and culture of it. Lunch at AwadunLizu village and arrive at Wasundum Village in the evening to grasp the pleasant moment of sunset at Nantu River. Dinner and night stop will be at Wasundum village again.
Day 12. Wasundum - Shangaung
Taking lunch box, trekking up again to the top of Mt. Shangaung, 1600m above sea level, introduces the morning with a touch of the splendor of the nature. We will be in Shangaung village, one of the biggest villages in the vicinity of Putao with about 2000 villagers, mainly Rawans and Lizus, again after 12 mile trek. Evening sightseeing around the village is to contact their cultures.
Day 13. Shangaung – Putao Departure ( B , L )
The jeep / 4WD travel to Putao is after breakfast and takes an hour to visit Putao morning market to observe the daily lifestyle of the local people. If time permit, stroll around the small town and some small village which stand near by the tow. Then, transfer to airport for your domestic flight to Yangon or Mandalay. If time permitted, you will visit one of the local restaurant for your lunch.

Adventure Trekking to Mt.Phonegan, 3635 M
(11 Days / 10 Nights)
Day 1: Arrival atPutao, Shangaung Village (L/D)
Upon arrival at Putao airport, you will be welcomed by our representative and transferred to Putao which lies in a flat valley, jumping-off point for trekkers who want to explore the region’s deep forests, wildlife sanctuaries and snow-capped mountains. After a brief fresh up at a local restaurant, we shall take a jeep or truck depending on the group size to upper Shangaungvillage with the distance 17 km which takes us about one hour. Shangaung is one of the big villages on the vicinity of Putao inhabitant of both Lisu and Rawan tribes. Dinner and overnight at Shangaung Village.
Day 2: Shangaung – Wasandum( Trek) (B/L/D)
After breakfast, the adventure trail starts as trek to Wasan6dum village with the distance 20 km which takes us about 7 hours trek through Mt. Shangaung at 1362 meters. First 10 km will be straight up along the trail winding up to the top of Mt.Shangaung from then trail goes all the way down to Wasandum. This will be the testing journey for you as the trail have to ascend from 915 meters up to 1362 meters. Wasandum is a small Rawan village situates by Namro creek. Upon arrival, check in at the a village house and for those who wish to wash up may go to Namro creek to do so with crystal clean water.Dinner and overnight will be at the village house.
Day 3: Wasandum –Awadum– Ziyadum (Trek) (B/L/D)
After breakfast, you will headed to the village for today destination at Ziyadum, through relatively flat land with just few of ups and downs. At first we cross Namro Creek to Awadum with the distance 7.4 km which takes us about 3 hours. Awadum is mainly inhabited by Lisu and separate in to two by a large paddy field. Here we cross a suspension bridge that spans Namlang creek to Kalangvillage with the distance 4.8 km which should takes us about 1.5 hours. We continue trek to Ziyadumvillage with the distance 6.4 km which takes us about 2 hours through deep evergreen forests. Ziyadum, situate at altitude of 3440 ft, 1048 meters is the most northwestern and last frontier village in Putao region, mainly resident are Rawan tribes. It is recommended to visit Ziya creek for a fantastic sunset view with a blazing SnowMountains in the west which spark in to steady flowing Ziya creek. Dinner and overnight at a village house in Ziyadum village will serveyou local experiences.
Day 4: Ziyadum – Chaungzone - Thitpingyi (Trek) (B/L/D)
After breakfast, the trek continues starting with a 9.6 kilometre walk to Chaungzone, taking around 3 hours. The journey first crosses over Phangran creek by suspension bridge then traverse an evergreen forest with slightly undulating tracks. After crossing another suspension bridge at Namya creek, we start a steep uphill trek along a mule track to reach Thitpingyi Camp. From Namya to the camp takes around 2 hours, covering 3.2 kilometres. The camp is located 1460 metres (4800 feet) above sea level.Dinner and camping night at the camp.
Day 5: Thitpingyi – Upper Thitpingyi – Khantautmyit (Trek) (B/L/D)
Continue this morning with a 2.5 kilometre trek to upper Thitpingyi camp. From here the path switches to a mule track and offers a great variation of forest types and bird life, passing through evergreen forest, hill pines and deciduous flowers. This section of the journey takes around 6 hours, covering 4.8 kilometres and ends at an elevation of 2575 metres (8500 feet). It will be straight up along the trail up to the Khantautmyintcamp. Dinner and overnight will be at the camping camp for a night (in a tent).
Day 6: Khantautmyit – Snow Line (B/L/D)
We ascend higher today up to 3050 metres (an elevation gain of 475 metres) over a distance of 6.4 kilometres. The trek is quite challenging and follows a very narrow path, yet it is filled with spectacular views. The camp site will be in one of three locations- all of which are located on the snowline- and the exact location will depend on the weather and snow conditions. In the late afternoon, enjoy the nature by taking photos and listen the bird’s calls. You will be in different forest type of the high elevation. It will be one of the wonderful times with your mountain experts. Dinner will be served at the Snow Line and overnight will be in a worm tent. You should take a rest this evening for your adventure hiking to the summit of the Mt.Phonegan next day.
Day 7: Snow Line – Mt PhongunRazi Summit – Khantautmyit (B/L/D)
Today, weather permitting, we set off for the summit. The total distance is 3 kilometers and reaches an altitude of 3635 metres (11920 feet). Despite the short distance, the trek will take 3-7 hours depending on the weather conditions. If the weather is clear, the views from the summit are spectacular. Return to the camp and continue descending to Khantautmyit camp.Dinner and overnight at Khantautmyit camp will be as previous.
Day 8: Khantautmyit -Thitpingyi - Chaungzone – Ziyadum village (B/L/D)
After an early breakfast, we trek back to Thitpingyi camp.Today, it is mostly downhill walking along the same path we ascending on day 4 and 5. We’ll reach Ziyadum in the late afternoon. Lunch stop will be at the Chaungzone camp. Hot shower and a warm bed by all mean will be of a greatest reward. You will have a great time to relax through the afternoon by sightseeing and walking
Day 9: Ziyadum – Kalang - Wasundum (Trek) (B/L/D)
After breakfast, start trek to Kalang village for about 3 hours. It lines between ever green forest and with cristal ice water river. Visiting inside the villages houses will show you authentic way of life of the mountain tribes. Enjoy the village sightseeing and early lunch in Kalang. After lunch, you will cross over suspension bridges at Awadum and passing through under lush evergreen forest. It is one of the photogenic places on your trip. In the late afternoon, you will arrive at Wasundum village again.Dinner and overnight will be at the traditional house at Wasundum village.
Day 10: Wasundum –Shangaung (B/L/D)
After breakfast, you will resume the journey to Shangaung village. The trek goes challenging uphill to the plateau of Mt. Shangaung, before rapidly downhill to Shangaung. This evening we will celebrate a farewell dinner with our fellow group members, including leaders, porters, and commemorate the experience that you’ve shared for the past 9 days in this unique part of the world. Dinner and overnight will be at the same village house in Shangaung village.
Day 11: Shanguang – Putao – Mandalay / Yangon (B)
In the early morning, transfer back to Putao to visit the morning market and have breakfast at a local restaurant. Then, transfer to airport for your domestic flight to Yangon or Mandalay. If time permitted, you will visit one of the local villages to observe daily lifestyle of local people or make a down town sightseeing.

Trip Overview
Mt. Phoneyin adventure vigorous expedition is designed for any trekker who loves hard trekking and hiking on the nature. Altitude 4220m will give you good experiences of hiking on the snow cap mountain among the pine forest. But you will be evergreen rain forest mostly. Wild orchids, rhododendron, pin e forest, rain forest, medicine plants butterflies, fishes, endemic bird species as tragopans& pheasants, wild animals as Takin, mountain goad, red panda, monkey, gibbon, and etc will be seen on this tour. Sightseeing in the mountain villages is also included. We do recommend this trekking trip for any trekker who loves nature and adventure. Even it is difficult, we offer some young and old trekkers who want to explode a place where a few tourist had been.

| Fitness : | Being a hard adventure trekking, this expedition is recommend trekkers who have experiences in trekking and hiking. If you have technical mountaineering experiences, it will be better but it is not essential. Long trekking, hiking in the deep forest and on the snow cap mountain combine with walking on the rocky trail along the river could not be skipped on this tour. So we do recommend that you should be very fit for this trip. |
| Time for the trip: | From October to April are recommended, the best time will be on November, December, January and February. |
| Weather Info: | October to April will be hot in the day time but it will be cold in the early morning and late evening. It will be 20oC- 25oC at day time and 0oC to6oC at night time normally. It will be about -2o to -10oc at the night of last 2 camps. June to September will be rain. |
| Accommodation: | 6 nights at local houses in the village and 5 nights with the tent in the forest. We will provide good sleeping bags and mattresses at the villages and in the tent. |
| Bathrooms/shower on trek: | Bathroom is available at all villages but not real shower. We do arrange to take a bath and watching the cloth in a private placeat village house. All night-stop-villages are located on the bank of the small rivers, most of our previous guests enjoy their watching the clothes and taking bath on the small river. |
| Meals info: | All meals are included in your package.Lunch box is recommended for whole day trekking. |
| Baggage | We do recommend a medium site day back bag for your essential medicine, camera, water, rain cover and etc. Our porters will carry all of your big baggage in which includes all of your personal gears, clothes and etc. But you should pack just essential thing for your trekking days. We do request to leave all rest things do not need for your trekking at our Putao office or at the first village. We will keep all of these in our main locker at our office in Putao. |
| Notice : | Sand fly and leached will be found on your trekking in lowland, especially on the first and last 3 days. It could be rain on trekking days ( 10 % ). Most of the trekking time will be in the rain forest mountain. Three days will be open trek among pine forest area. |

Itinerary
Mt. Phoneyin, 4220 m, Putao

Day 1. Arrival at Putao – Shangaung village
On your arrival at Putao, one of our company representative will picks you up at the airport to the town. After having lunch at a restaurant, you will meet our hiking group to make some briefing for our long trekking and hiking trip to Mt. Phoneyin, 4220m which stands on the border of Myanmar and India. In the late afternoon, shell we take a jeep or truck to Shaung village with the distance 17 km which take us about one hour. Shangaung village is one of the big villages of Lisu and Rawan tribes in the west of Putao. Dinner will be served at the village and we will make a night stop at a local house in the village.
Day2. Shangaung village – Wasandum village
After breakfast, the trek in the forested mountain, for about 7 hours, is commenced over Mt. Shangaung at 1360 meters. Today will be a tasting journey to refresh your trekking experiences by 12 miles trekking and hiking. First 3 miles will on flat and straight up for 4 miles to be on the summit. After lunch, the trail will be down to Warsandan Village, a small village placed on the bank of Namlan River. It is the end point of the day trekking program, also good for night stop, and there catch the enjoyable feeling of sunset on the bank of the creek. Dinner will be at the village house.
Day3 Wasandum - Awadum - Ziyadum
After breakfast, we stat trek again to our destination, Ziyadum village. It is about 1050 m from the sea level and 9 miles from Wasandum village for 5 hours trekking, mostly one the flat area. Easy trekking in the forest and along the Namlang creek.Lunch on the way. On the way, visit AwadumLizu village. In the late afternoon, arrive at Ziyardum village. It is the last Rawan village on the west-north of Putao. It on the bank of the Ziyarriver and among the ever green forest mountain. And also it is the village on our trekking and we need to arrange for our adventure trekking for next day. In the evening, take a rest and photos discovery along the Ziyarriver and enjoy the sunset. Dinner and over night at a local house in Ziyar village.
Day 4.Ziyadum - Camp I 1400 M
Start our adventure trekking in the evergreen forest. Mostly we will trek in the forest along the Phangranriver. The most part of the today trekking will be slightly up to 1400 m. We will have on the bank of the river with lunch box. After lunch, take tea and proceed to our destination camp I. In the evening, we will be camp I. Take your time for relax and photos. Camp I is just on the bank on the river and good view to take the picture. If weather is fine, you can get the good photso of snowcap mountain among the ever green forest. Dinner and overnight will be at a wooden hut in cam I. It's 1000 m from the sea level.
Day 5 Camp I –Camp II, 2600M - Camp III (Camp ) 3100 M
In the morning, enjoy scenery of beautiful morning with sweet bird's calls in the deep forest. After breakfast, continue to camp II and III. It will be about 6 hours up trekking again. It will be the most adventure day on your tour. Today will be most difficult for your hiking on the forest mountain. We will stop at camp III for one night stop. It is on the top of the rocky mountain. Dinner and overnight will be at a wooden hut in Camp III.
Day 6 Camp III – Based Camp 3600M, Stone cave
Most of the trekking will be on the rocky cliff and snow. But it depend on the time of your trip. After about 6 hours trekking, we will stop for a night at Based camp. In our experiences, it will be on the snow line. It's a good photo point and easy to see the mountain goad, tarkin and many rare birds species of Myanmar. In the evening, it will be paradise if weather is fine. Dinner and overnight with tent at the based camp.
Day 7 Based camp – Summit of the Mt. Phoneyin 4220M– Based Camp
After breakfast, start our hiking on the deep slop cliff or may be on the snow. It's up to the weather. It will be hard hiking to the summit. After take a rest on the top of the Mt, Phoneyin, It is the best view to take a picture of Mt.Phragram and famous Mt. Phoneyin. After your victory on the top of Mt.Phoneyin, trek down to the based camp. It's is snow cap area and 3600 m from the sea level. We can see the top of the Mt. Phangran and snowcap mountain range along Myanmar and India border. Dinner and overnight with tent at snow cap based camp.
Day 8 Based Camp - Camp II 2600M
After sunrise, breakfast and leave our based camp. Today trekking will be on the snow and stones again to our destination camp II, for7 hour in the forest rocky mountain. We will have lunch at camp III and take your time for your photos. Our night stop will be at camp II. Dinner and overnight will be at a wooden hut at the camp.
Day 9 Camp II - Ziyadum
The way to Ziyadum village is easy in spite of the walk on the stones for about three hours. Lunch will be at the destination where taking leisure. It will be same way as in day 4. In the evening, arrive at Ziyar village and your leisure time will serves an excellent moment of relaxation for all of your used energy. Dinner and night stop will be at a house in the village.
Day 10.ZiyadumVillage - KharlanVillage- WasundumVillage
Acquire pleasure from the easy trek (9 miles) as well as the photo stops after commencing your walk toward the destined Kharlan Village, a small and pleasant Rawan village having the background of the dense forested mountain. The enjoyable experience will be continued by the time of crossing a small traditional rattan suspension bridge, whilst back from the village, observing the nature and culture of it. Lunch at AwadunLizu village and arrive at Wasundum Village in the evening to grasp the pleasant moment of sunset at Nantu River. Dinner and night stop again the village.
Day 11.Wasundum - Shangaung
Taking lunch box, trekking up again to the top of Mt. Shangaung, 1600m above sea level, introduces the morning with a touch of the splendor of the nature. We will be in Shangaung village, one of the biggest villages in the vicinity of Putao with about 2000 villagers, mainly Rawans and Lizus, again after 12 mile trek. Evening sightseeing around the village is to contact their cultures. Dinner and night will be again in Shangaung village.
Day 12.Shangaung – PutaoDeparture
The jeep / 4WD travel to Putao is after breakfast and takes an hour to visit Putao morning market to observe the daily lifestyle of the local people. If time permit, stroll around the small town and some small village which stand near by the tow. Then, transfer to airport for your domestic flight to Yangon or Mandalay. If time permitted, you will visit one of the local restaurant for your lunch.
