Trip Overview

Myanmar dolphin expedition is one of the amazing trips for wild life and nature lovers. Very few amount of Ayeyarwaddy dolphin is remain in the river, it is very low chance to watch the river dolphin in the river. Not only dolphin watching but also fishermen villages and some small village sightseeing are included in this trip. Especially Mingun sightseeing is the most interesting site on this tour. You will see world biggest running bell, the beiggest temple of Myanmar and village sightseeing is on the highlights of the trip.River dolphin is an endangered species in the world. Fishing by a cooperation of men and dolphin in the fresh water can only be seen in Myanmar. This species is fairly common in the Ayeyawaddy(Irrawaddy) river near Kathar, coastal region and delta area of Myanmar. The total of 65 to 75 dolphins can be seen along the river Ayeyarwaddy plying from Mandalay to Bhamo. They are protected by Department of Myanmar Fisheries Nevertheless,Irrawady Dolphin was introduced by Anderson around Bhamo in 1879. The Irrawaddy Dolphin(Orcaellabrevirostris) in total length of 200-250 cm and a high rounded forehead without beak and the color of the adults is black and the underside; grayish. Cooperative fishing between Irrawaddy dolphins and fishermen is an amazing mutual understanding between man and dolphin. With the assistance of these marine creatures, the fishermen can easily capture the fishes. This unbelievable process can be enjoyed under the cool-breeze as per attached mentioned program.

Day (1)Mandalay – Mingun - Myayzun village

Morning scenic driving on the Ayeyarwaddy by fishermen’s boat for dolphin sightseeing boat will give you unforgettable event in your life time. After one hour, we go sightseeing: the biggest temple, bells and lion statues of Myanmar in Mingun village. Proceed to Myayzun village where is 45km from Mandalay, for exploration of Ayeyarwaddy dolphins. On the way, we can see dolphins near the villages such as Seinpengone, Indown, Sheinmakar. Upon the arrival of Myayzun village lies on the eastern bank of the river, visit fishermen houses and chatting with old fishermen and their family for their experiences. This village is very famous for their fishing together with Ayeayarwaddy dolphin in their traditional method. In the evening, we stroll in the village to visit Snake Vomit Pagoda of 12 century and observe the way of life of the villagers and their local communities. Enjoy the sunset on the bank of the mighty river, Ayeyarwaddy. In the evening enjoy the sunset follow by exclusive dinner with the bonfire on the sand island of mighty Ayeyarwaddy River. After bonfire party, overnight stay on boat or camping on the island.

Day (2)Myayzun village - Mandalay

After breakfast, we will start our dolphin exploration by small fishermen’s boat and canoes along the river. We will approach to dolphin by small canoes because dolphin will afraid the noise of boat’s engine. When the fishermen start to make a strange sound such as guttural by tapping with paddle, bamboo stick on the side of canoes, the dolphin will come and show their tail to cooperate for their fishing and chase to boat closely. (Dolphin and fishermen communicate each other by audio visual signals for their cooperation fishing). Dolphins will show their tails on the vertical position to stop the boat and beat the water surface by the tails to capture the fish by casting their net quickly.

A few minutes later, the fishermen will get abundant fishes inside the net and they will throw some fishes to feed the dolphins as their share of cooperation fishing. After they take some rest more or less 20 minutes, they will start similar cooperation fishing for the second time. They will keep fishing some more time till receiving their daily rations. Saying “good-bye” to the fishermen and Ayeyarwaddy dolphins, we leave for Mandalay. It is incredible scene and amazing mutual understanding between human and animals for cooperative fishing as “Seeing is Believing”.

Detail Itinerary

Day 1. Mandalay ~ Monywa ~ Kpine Village ~ Alangdawkassapa National Park

In the morning, proceed to Monywa by car for 4 hours driving. After have lunch at a restaurant in Monywa, we will cross the Chindwin River over the bridge and drive toAlaungdawkassapa National Park viaKapine village for about 5 hours. In the late evening, we will arriveThit Lone Pin based camp in the deep forest. Dinner and overnight at forest camp will make you to be pleasure moment for your long journey.

Day 2. Adventure Safari by Elephant Trekking

After breakfast, visit Alaungdawkassapa cave by elephant trekking for about half day. Alaugndawkassapa is name of a famous monk in Buddhist history. Elephant trekking among the long elephant grass and muddy river areas will make you to be in an adventure trip. Up and down elephant trekking on a forest hill and along the small stream safaritrip will show you beauty of nature and wildlife, wild animals, various butterflies and colorful wild orchids. In the evening, we will make our safari trip again along the Thapeiksay creek. It is one of the best place for your safari. If you are lucky, we will see bear, dear and guar and etc. In the evening, we will visit the main elephant camp to see daily life of the elephants and their owners. Dinner and overnight at the forest guest house looks like camping in a deep forest.

Day 3.Whole day Elephant Trekking in the National Park

We will make long elephant riding in the deep forest for about 5 hours. You will be along the small stream and among the deep forest to make safari trip to enjoy the wild life and nature. In the evening, back to the based camp. Dinner and overnight will be at the Thit Lone Pin based camp.

Day 4. Alaungdawkassapa National Park ~ Kapine village ~ Monywa

In the morning, proceed back to the Kapine village for 20 miles to make a safari our by our jeep. On the way back, take our time easy for photos and enjoy the nature. Lunch stop will be at Gonenyinpin camp or on the way. In the late evening, arrive at Phowintaung Cave for sightseeing of ancient Buddha Statues and painting on the inner well of old stone caves. Dinner andone night stay will be at a hotel in Monywa.

Day 5.Monywa ~ Mandalay

After leisure breakfast at the hotel, we will check-out from hotel, start our sightseeing which includesThanbuddha Temple, world tellest Buddha statue names Laykyunsatkyar pagoda and Bawdihtaung pagoda complus. After lunch, drive back to Mandalay by our car. On your arrival at Mandalay, it will be at the end of your adventure expedition tour with us. (As optional, you can drive to Bagan on this day if you prefer)

Diving Tour in Mergui Archipelago, southern Myanmar

Day (1)Ranong Jetty (Thailand)-Kawthaung-High Rock

We will pick you up at the airport in Kawthaung (Myanmar) or Ranong (Thailand). You will be embarked in the afternoon on our boat in order to enjoy a dinner on-board at sunset time and to be on the diving site early in the next morning. We make sure on both Thai and Burmese immigration.

Day (2)High Rock-Rocky 1-Shark Cave-Black Rock

After being a good night rest, we will start with easy diving for the first day in High Rock and Rocky 1: the sites with full of spot rays and cobia as well as a lot of small stuff hiding in the coral. It’s a good day to test your eyes! Here we can find all the special things like Pine fish, Pineapple fish, Frogfish, Sea Horses and mand different species of Nudibranchs. Another 2 more dives for first day are in shark cave; one of the most famous dive sites of Mergui Archipelago, especially for Shark cave, where you will have very good chance to see more than one shark inside the cave. If you are lucky, you can see Manta Ray, Eagle Ray, Whale Shark, Grey Reef Shark, Nurse Shark and big blotched sting ray in that diving site. Even if you are unlucky with the big stuff you still have chance to see Ghost pipe fish, harlequin shrimps, frog fish, seahorse and gorgeous coral everywhere. In that night the boat will be heading to the north toward Black rock.

Day (3)Black Rock

Second day diving is an adventure diving at Black rock, the most famous diving site in Burma, with great visibility, many big stuffs like shark and rays and also very rich in Marco life and colorful coral, you will never forget to this diving site.

Day(4 )Black Rock- North Twin –South twin Islands

Third day diving is also adventure diving, we will dive 3 times in north twin rounded by multi-panicles and 1 dive in south twin. Diving sites in twin island usually offer the best visibility and highest chance for pelagic. You will have a good chance to see Manta Ray, Eagle Ray, Whale Shark, Grey Reef Shark, Nurse Shark, Zebra Shark and giant Sea Fans.

Day(5)Diving at South Twin - North Pinnacle - Shark Cave

First dive for fifth day of the trip is in north pinnacle of north twin, another great dive site of Mergui archipelago. Second and third dives are in shark cave, famous diving site in Mergui archipelago for very good chance to see more than one shark inside the cave. Forth dive for that day is night dive in Gt.Swington, good site to Barracuda rounded by beautiful reefs.

Day (6)Shark Cave - Seagan Forest Pincle - Western Rocky

Firth day diving may be the finest diving on the trip. 2 dives in Seafan Forest pinacle, the dive site with a forest of beautiful giant seafans where you have a very good chance to see some of the big stuff. And another 2 dives for that day are in Western rocky, one of the best diving sites in Burma. One of the highlights is a tunnel (cave) at 20 meters depth that goes all the way through the island., There are good chances of seeing Bowmouth Guiter Fish, Nurse shark, Grey reef shark, Cuttlefishes, Harlequin Shrimps, Frogfish and Sea Horses and a lot of lobsters.

Day(7)Western Rocky - Shark Point - Secret Lagoon - Kawthaung

The last day diving 2 dives in Shark point and secret lagoon. The diving sites are amazing, especially for colorful soft coral and the caves. There we have opportunity to see black tip sharks, Tunas, Snappers, Stingray, Turtle, rare and beautiful species Nudibranchs and many small stuf. After the last dive the boat will be heading back to Kawthaung.

Day (1) Yangon- Kyaing tong by flihgt

After breakfast at the hotel, proceed to Kyaingtong by morning flight. Kyaing tone is the second largest city of the Shan State. So, you will see many different colorful ethnic group in their tradition dressing and authentic cultural. Upon to your arrival time, we will visit Mahamyatmuni Buddha Image and WatJom Kham Shan monastery, which is located in the town. In the evening, visit Akha villages nearby the town by our private car. Dinner will be served at a restaurant and Overnight stay at a hotel in Kyaingtong.

Day (2) Kyaingtong Sightseeing

Today, we will visit beautiful morning market to see colorful hill tribes and trading of their home make products. In the market, you can try their delicious foods, snacks and noodle soup. After visiting local central market, make a visit to Akha and Lahutribes village which lies on the hill sides by car and short trekkin. After one hour driving, we will need trek to get their villages. There, we will observe their ways of life, custom and how they living in their traditional houses. After visiting the whole day in the villages, back to the town and take your time easy. Overnight will be at the same hotel in Kyaingtong.

Day (3) Kyaingtong sightseeing

Get up early morning, and see the water-buffalo market. After visiting morning market, explore Akha and Enn tribes who are living in Pin Tauk villages. Enjoy the beautiful Shan Mountain ranges by trekking through a trail in the lush forest hill. We will meet some villagers and visit to their traditional houses, enjoy your time in these interesting villagers. After that, proceed to Wan Pauk village by car, located on the way back to hotel to see Palaung tribe with silver ring on their bodies. Overnight stay will be at the same hotel.

Day (4) Kyaingtong sightseeing

After breakfast, we will visit ancient Loi villages by two hours driving. We will visit Wa San and WaNyat villages. In these villages, most of the relative groups are living together in a long hut as one unique community group in their traditional way. Six or seven families are living together in a house mostly. Most of them are hunter and always depend on the forests. After visiting in their villages, same way back to the hotel. On the way back, we will visit some more villages if time permit. Overnight stay will be at the same hotel in Kyaingtong.

Day (5) Kyaing Tone – Heho – Kalaw by flight and car

In the morning, we will visit nearby villages or colorful central market again for handmade local products of Shan state. Taking afternoon flight to Heho, you will have a good time in Kalaw. On your arrival at Heho, we’ll drive to Kalaw. If time permit, we will visit one of the highest places on the time for sunset view. Dinner will be at a restaurant and overnight will be at the hotel in Kalaw.

Day (6) Kalaw – Loikaw

After breakfast at your hotel, visit morning market in Kalaw and start your scenic driving to Loikaw. On the way, you will visit some Pao village and lunch stop will be in Pinlaung. In the late evening, arrive at Loikaw and check in at your hotel. After take a short rest, we will make city sightseeing which include holy pagoda, TaungkwePagaod and some old historical monument in the town. Dinner will be at a restaurant and overnight at the hotel in Loikaw.

Day (7) Loikaw sightseeing

After breakfast, one and half hour drive to Padaung native village called "Pan-pet". In this old village, only the Padaung races are living. We will seed their traditional clothing and long ring deceration on their neck, lad and hand. Not only thisetraditinla clothing but also we will see autherntic way of lift of Padaung people in the village. After lunch, we will make another one and half hour scenice driving to old Kayar village which lines far from the city. This village is one of the unique old villages of the orginal trip called Kayar tribe in their Kayar state. Most of the women are still using their traditional clothes as in the picture. In the late evening, return to Liokaw to observe the traditional ways of living of Kayah national races. Dinner will be at a restaurant and overnight stay at the same hotel in Loikaw.

Day (8) Loikaw – Kalaw

After sightseeing morning market, start scenic driving again back to KalaW. On the way, we will visit some village of the hill tribes and Myinmahtite cave. We will see many Buddha status in the cave. We will arriveKalaw in the evening. After check in hotel, shell we take a short rest till dinner time. Kalaw is on the high elevation and famous as British hill station. So, it one of the best places to take a rest in Shan state. The cold climate will serve you to be pleasure. Overnight will be at a good hotel in Kalaw.

Day (9) Kalaw sightseeing

Have your breakfast at the hotel and visit colorful morning market. You will see not only the colorful vegetable but also colorful hill tribes and way of life of the hill tripe people. After that drive to a monastery which lines on the hill and see one of the biggest lacquerware Buddha Statues in the country. After that drive to a village nearby the town for shightseeing. After lunch in kalaw, we will visit two or three villages of the hill tribes by driving and walking in the village. In the evening, drive back to Kalaw. Dinner and night stop will be at your hotel.

Day (10) Kalaw – Heho – Bagan, Bagan - Kanpalat By flight and 4WD

Drive to Heho airport and take flight to Bagan. Upon arrival time at Bagan, continue driving to Kanpalat. A full day tour starts with a private 4WD to Kanpalat. And then, take about one hour drive along Ayeyarwaddy River to Chauk, where have a sightseeing of morning market. The next route is to drive to Seikphyu village which lines on the other site of the mightlyAyeyarwaddy River. After that, proceed to one of the big Burmese villages, named Kazunma Village, in Magwe Division. After lunch, drive among the forested mountains. It will be a good time to take photos of the nature. Driving in the dry zone takes about 3 hours before we arrive at Saw for a tea brake. Then keep up driving for 12 miles to Kanpalat, a small administrative town of Chin People. Chin women with tattooed faces and ways of life of the Chin tribes can be observed in this small town. In the evening, check in Pine Wood Villa which is situated among the pine forest and stands about 3000 ft above sea level, for night stop. The cool climatic condition on the hill will be lovely for you while seizing enjoyable dinner and night stay at Chin Eco Lodge.

Day 11.Kanpalat-Mt.Victoria- Aye Village- Mindut

Under the rising sun, scenic driving to the base camp of Mt. Victoria, 10 miles away from the lodge will be pleasure of the day. The pine forest and sweet bird calls will fill the beauty of the Mt.Victoria which is the most famous birding area for many endangered species of Myanmar. After take a short rest at the based camp continue driving to the top of the mountain. Apply your photography at the top during the period of tea and snacks, and then return to the based camp by our 4WD to continue to Aye Village, 12 miles far away from the base camp for one and a half hours driving. It is a small Chin village, meaning very cold in accord with her name, lied on the cliff of the forest hill. Once been one of the British hill camps, there are still some colonial’s old and dinky buildings in the icy cold climate. After sightseeing in the village, in which women with tattoo faces as they love tradition, in the evening, proceed to Mindut. Dinner and night stop will be at a hotel in Mindut.

Day 12.Mindut Sightseeing

The commencement is to be taken by scenic driving for one hour trip before we start our interesting sightseeing in Panood Village. Today main sightseeing is the villagers’ costumes and ways of living of Chin tribes. One thing interesting to mention is animism and their beliefs on Sharman and Nat, as well as fortune telling by Sharman and Chin traditional dance. After lunch and a short rest, continue our sightseeing to an old Chin village lied on the hill. The tattoo faced women as well as interesting tradition can be experienced. In the evening, drive back to Mindut, and stroll around the town again. Dinner and one more night stay will be at the same hotel in Mindut.

Day 13.Mindut-PonetaungPonenyar- Bagan

A morning of different cultures will make us a new taste while sightseeing around Mindut morning market. On the way back to Bagan, we will have excellent stops for photos among the pine forest hills. Also a short stop at the top of the PonetaungPonenyar mountain range, experiencing observing small stupas and Nat shrines at the summit, taking some photos as well as having tea at a tiny tea shop there are all included on our way of driving back to Bagan as most other local travelers do for their brake time on that way. When finished lunch, we will operate undersized visits to some more Burmese villages in the time of our way. The sunset will be in Bagan. Enjoy the dinner and one more night at the hotel in Bagan.

Day 14.Bagan – Yangon by flight

After your leisure morning in Bagan, take a flight back to Yangon. If you want to stay some more night in Bagan, it will be on your own.
